CHAPTER XIV — GROWING PAINS
Original Artwork

Growing Pains captures one of the quieter, more vulnerable moments within West of Everything.
A young cowboy stands beneath an enormous eye, reaching upward to wipe away a tear that has already begun to fall. The scale between the two creates an almost surreal moment—the child confronting an emotion far larger than himself.
The piece speaks to the uncomfortable truth behind growing up: that strength is often born from the moments that hurt us. Pain, loss, change and uncertainty become part of who we are, even when we don’t understand them at the time.
The cowboy’s red bandana provides the only interruption to the restrained monochromatic palette, connecting him visually to the recurring characters of West of Everything. But here, there are no guns, outlaws or pursuit. The battle is internal.
Growing Pains is about learning to carry what life gives you without allowing it to harden you. Sometimes growing means becoming strong enough to face the pain. Sometimes it means being gentle enough to wipe away the tear.
